The proposed SEND reforms are moving from four broad areas of need to five areas of development – and for the first time, Executive Function has been named as a standalone area. This means schools will need to identify and evidence support in this area. Designed to help schools do exactly that, the framework provides a structured, consistent way to track progress across 11 areas of Executive Function development from age 4 to preparing for university/employment. This gives staff a clearer picture of each pupil’s strengths, challenges, and next steps. The framework has been developed in collaboration with Victoria Bagnall from Connections in Mind, specialists in executive function coaching and support.
The trial will run from Wednesday 10th June until Friday 10th July. Register here by 5th June 2026 to join the trial.
