What is New at B Squared February 2026?

Posted on 25/02/202615/04/2026 by Nicola Davies

Here’s a quick summary of what’s new this month. Please share your feedback on this update.

Maximise your remaining school budget

The impact of Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs in schools is huge – and it’s growing every year! We’ve developed a brand new SEMH assessment framework to help identify and support students struggling with behaviour, attendance, and emotional wellbeing.

Covering birth to age 15, it gives you a clear profile of SEMH needs and can be used alongside your existing frameworks to identify a student’s specific strengths and needs, plan targeted support, and track meaningful steps of progress.

Affordable and impactful ways to use your budget before the end of March

As the financial year draws to a close, now is the perfect time to make the most of your remaining school budget. We offer affordable, impactful solutions that help staff save time, support pupil progress, and get the most from your resources.

Enhance your Connecting Steps package with additional assessment frameworks tailored to your school’s needs. Our Cognition & Learning frameworks suit a wide range of ages and abilities. We also have frameworks for: Communication & Interaction; Social Emotional & Mental Health; Preparing for Adulthood; as well as autism profiling – helping you target support where it’s needed most.

Save time with AI from just £1 per pupil per year. Our Advanced Features for Connecting Steps use Artificial Intelligence to summarise achievements, outline next steps, and even create lesson plans – with a 2-week FREE trial available.

Link evidence of learning from £3.13 per student. Evisense integrates seamlessly with Connecting Steps, making it easy to track progress and share evidence with parents. Larger subscriptions reduce costs per student, and Connecting Steps users receive a 20% discount.

Access over 150 expert-led 1-hour SENDcast training sessions for just £10 each, anytime, to support staff development.

For tailored advice or pricing, contact us on 01252 870133. Let us help you make every pound count before March ends!

multiple subject donuts report

NEW multiple subject donuts report

See a student’s progress across all subjects and profiles within a framework at a glance!

  • Left donuts: show achievements at the start of the date range.
  • Right donuts: show achievements at the end.
  • Red icon: highlights level changes, so progress or regression is easy to spot.

This report gives a clear, visual snapshot of student progress – how to guide

Both these reports use the KEY DATES set in Connecting Steps, here’s a quick reminder on how to add or update them – how to guide

Student progress report: now shows % change with colour coding
Great for a quick visual snapshot of progress

This report tracks a pupil’s progress across multiple subjects or profiles over time. Data can be viewed as a comparative bar chart, column view, or line chart, with options to filter by subject/profile and sort results. In column view (shown here), green and red indicators show whether a pupil has progressed or regressed, and the new percentage change gives an instant visual of how much progress has been made – how to guide

Increasing successful EHCP applications
Icknield Primary School and Deaf Provision, located in Luton, is a vibrant three-form entry school with a diverse and inclusive community.

“B Squared’s Connecting Steps has contributed to an increase in successful EHCP applications, leading to additional support for students and a positive impact on outcomes. Data collation is much faster, and the platform provides clear insights into gaps in learning. This enables timely and targeted intervention.”  Keely Nugent, SENDco

Communication & Interaction framework

Do your students struggle with communication?

Developed with Speech and Language Therapists, our Communication and Interaction assessment framework works alongside our other frameworks to help staff assess and monitor how pupils express themselves, understand others, and interact socially. It breaks communication into clear areas and recognises that pupils may communicate in many ways – including speech, signing, symbols, gestures, or behaviour. This makes it easier to identify strengths, spot support needs, plan personalised interventions, and collaborate more effectively with SaLTs. View framework details
